Staying at Habitacion Kiwi, San Pedro: 30th October 2020

Today I moved into a small house called ‘Habitacion Kiwi’ close to the town of San Pedro. I found the house on AirBnB and chose it as it was one of the cheaper places to stay on this side of the island and was available to rent for 10 days. The owner Lucy was born in Germany but was brought up on La Palma. She has converted four small houses as holiday rentals on a small plot of land over looking the hills across the north east of the island.

The house is very compact but well designed with a fold out bed and plenty of storage room. The decoration is cute with a red and black ladybird theme through out including the dishes and cooking equipment. The house has it’s own private terrace and solarium for enjoying the sun and the views across the hills.

Lucy left a selection of fruits and vegetables that where grown in her garden. Some of the fruits I recognised but others were new to me so it was fun tasting them.

It was great being able to eat my meals out on the terrace watching the wild birds flying around the garden including a pair of kestrels.

The garden has densely planted with tropical flowers and succulents which were a great home for lizards.

Avocados and strawberry guavas.

Lucy also had a number of small ponds which house terrapins which she rescues when they outgrow the home of the pet owners.
