    Konglo to Pakse

    Staying in a jungle bungalow is great but being so close to nature sometimes has it’s down sides. Two giant geckos decided decided to take up residence in the bungalow I was staying and had a territorial fight during the night. I woke in the middle of the night to loud chirping which was very close to my ear. It was so loud that it woke the neighbouring bungalow. I using my head torch and saw two geckos scurry away into the roof. I never knew geckos could make so much noise.     Konglo Day 2

    Woke to the sound of cockerels all around the bungalow at 5 am. I had a leisurely breakfast and before renting a kayak to explore the river next to the resort. The resort is on bank at the fork of two rivers with one river emerging from a spring a forming a ‘blue lagoon’. The water there is crystal clear and the locals come to collect water for drinking. The river was perfect for kayaking as it was slow moving and was in a great location amongst the soaring limestone kaksts.     Thalong to Konglor – Day two of the Khaek Loop

    I was woken at 5 am by a Laos family in the neighbouring bungalow who were packing up to leave the guesthouse. Laos people are very early risers but they managed to wake everyone in the surrounding bungalows by the time they left at 6 am. I couldn’t go back to sleep and so packed up and headed off for the next stage of the Khaek loop. The road traversed the edge of the massive reservoir which had created many inlets which have now formed a nature reserve.
