    Trang to Kanchanaburi

Today I left my friends in Trang. I had originally planned to continue south to the island of Koh Lipe but the weather is still very unsettled and so I decided to start heading north towards Chiang Mai. I will hopefully return to south Thailand later in the trip once the weather is drier. I had my final breakfast with Christian, Jane and Nemo. I finished packing and was due to catch the 1.30 pm train from Trang to Bangkok which normally should take around 15 hours. They drove me to the station to buy my ticket. The only seats they had left where in third class carriage as all…

    Trang Day 3

Today it rained all morning so we had a leisurely breakfast. It was good to have a relaxing morning after all the activities from the day before. We went to Robinson Shopping Mall for lunch and then drove to the local paddy fields which have been developed into a series of restaurants and craft shops. Once the rainy season finally comes to an end they will be able to render the outside of the house…

    Trang day 2

We woke up late and had a leisurely breakfast before meeting up with the rest of the family for a day trip around Trang.  The first stop was to Wang Pa Mek which had a dinosaur theme park which the children loved.   The  park is at the base of a hill which is the highest point in Trang.  We trekked 1 hour up to the top of the hill to see the great panoramic views of the countryside.  The trek started relatively easiluy with concrete steps but very soon became very steep with only ropes to help you climb up the rocks and boulders.  Nemo came with us and…

    Koh Jum to Trang

Today I travelled from Koh Jum to Trang to visit Christian who is an old friend of mine from when I lived in Sweden. I caught the 8 am long boat from Koh Jum to Ban Laem Kruap on the mainland from where I took a taxi to Ban Nua Klong. From there I took a bus for an hour to Trang train station where I was met by Christian, his wife Jane and son Nemo. Nemo was joined by his two cousins Pooh-Pooh and Wee-Wee. Jane drove us back to their home which is in the countryside outside of Trang. This region is know for it’s rubber and palm…
